January
2. Never phoned Barbara. Amp broke. Mic also broke. Up till 4 fixing it. Mike and I took amp to be fixed.
3. Went to town, bought new pair of jeans. Played at Prenton cellar party. Stan played bass. Quite good.

31. Lads came to ours to see amplifier. Might buy it though it's a heap of junk. Al and I went to Martins. Girl I was with disappeared, why worry.

February
1. We went to Southport (Reg and I). Al and I went to Cavern. Not much good, no decent talent there.
2. Downtown all day. Saw Clinton Ford.
3. Played at Mardi Gras. Spud on bass. Never went down too well. Never bothered to take Jean home.
4. Went to town for interview. It's a real crummy place, still.
5. Went to Abbey to see 'Carry On Sergeant.'
7. Got watch back. went to Martins with Hal and Reg.
8. Bought bass off Roy for £3. Al and I went to Cavern. saw Pat and friend there. Still don't know what to do about her. I still like her a hell of a lot.
10. Went with Pat in afternoon to see some chap about a job. Went to Mardi Gras, but never reached there. Had to walk from E. Lane because of fog.
14. Got Valentine Card, from who I don't know. Al and I too late for Martins so went to Knotty Ash Village Hall. Crummy place.
15. Roy Rich came to cellar to practice. Went to Cavern in evening. Saw Pat, walked to Pier Head with them, though don't feel the same about her now.
16. Got another Valentine Card, from West Derby.
17. Alan and I went to Mardi Gras. Got girls to see H. Ormester about us, still no dice.
20. Alan and I practiced a few numbers in bathroom.
21. Played at University panto dance, not bad but things went wrong. Afterwards Al and I went to party by Rialto. Stayed all night with some girl. Put my white mac on floor and found someone had walked all over it. Left shirts at University.
22. Chap rang up from Kraal Jazz club. Went to Regent with Hazel. She gets on my nerves, never bothered to take her home.
23. Went to town, saw lads and Mr. Judge caught me in storeroom. Got my shirts back from University.
24. Alan, John and I went to Mardi Gras in bow ties. What a change. Not many girls there.
25. Went to Meachers for interview. Crummy job, but took it.
26. Played at Catacombs. Not bad, not many people and Spud never turned up. Got cards from dole. Start work tomorrow. Echo says A.C. and his JAZZMEN?
27. Start at Meachers. Crummy office and two old people, what a job.
28. Kraal Jazz Club, New Brighton. Played very good. Good talent there. Had good laugh on train.

March
1. Went to Cavern. Not bad.
3. Went to Mardi Gras by myself. Picked up girl. Ditched her as I was broke.
4. Alan and I went to Premier to see 'I Bury The Living.' Good laugh.
8. Felt lousy. Went to Iris' party instead of Cavern. Good laugh.
10. Off work with cold. Went to Mardi Gras with Al and Bill. Not bad.
12. Went to pictures. Had a good laugh with two girls.
14. Played at Alexandra Hall, Crosby. Alan Stave was there. Made date with girl I took home from Clubmoor.
17. Supposed to see girl outside Mardi Gras at 9. Asked to play at Clubmoor. Had to let her down, though tried to phone.
18. Al and I went to Carlton to see 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.' Quite good.
20. Went to Tommy Kelly to try to get guitar neck. Throw it away.
21. Al and I went to Martins. Met Valerie. Nice girl, see her tomorrow.
22. Roy and Rickie (?) packed group up. Reg, Al and I went to see Cliff Richard. Good. Met Valerie and friend. Went to Pier Head.
23. Al and I went to see drummer, as Roy and Rick are dropping out.
25. Mardi Gras. Supposed to meet Val at 8.30. arrived at 9, she'd gone. Roy and Rick played. Didn't play too bad.
26. Martins. Lousy night. No one there.
27. Got up at 1 o clock. Lads called, played records.
29. Harry's 21st party. Never started till 12. Stayed with Rita, who left at 4.30. Stayed with Val till 6.30. not a bad party.
30. Cavern. Valerie never turned up. Our amplifier never worked. Borrowed Bluegenes', played lousy.
31. Bill and I went to Mardi Gras. Not bad, went with cloakroom girl.
