2. Johnny Carter and his girl came up to help us find a drummer for Crosby.
3. Went to Platts for interview. Got the job, asked for my cards.
4. Alexandra Hall, Crosby. Charlie O'Brian played. We played terrible. Drummer was no good. Finished at Meadows.
5. Asked Alan Sytner about date.
6. Started work at Platts, Cotton Exchange. Not very good place.
7. Went to see Valerie Spears, working in flower stall at Littlewoods. Met Tony Murphy at Mardi Gras.
10. Got guitar neck off Mrs. Caldwell.
12. Sold bass for £4.50 and made on the deal. Reg and I went to Cavern, not much good.
14. Phoned Joe Hall about Crosby date. He said he could only pay us £2. We cancelled it.
15. Went to Curzon to see 'Grip Of The Strangler.' Very good.
18. Never played Alexandra Hall as he couldn't afford to pay us £4. Al and I went to Martins. Took Marianne home to Aintree. Bought sunglasses in town.
19. Ellesmere Port, Majestic. Alan and I went. Played okay. Paid £2.15. We get a write up in Disc.
24. Went to school dance. Only four turned up from my old class. Not too bad. Don Ellis gave us a date. Went for an interview.
25. Never got the job. Went to Martins. Took Marianne home. Had to thumb lift back from Black Bull as I missed the bus.
26. Went to Cavern with Alan. Not bad. Saw Alan Sytner. Wrote 'Oh Boy!' and 'Drumbeat.'
27. Wrote to J. Walker's father about money for dates.
28. Went to Curzon with Hazel to see 'I Married A Monster From Outer Space.' Never bothered to take her home.

May
1. Hi-Fi Club, Crosby. Never played because of row over money. Supposed to see Marianne outside Curzon, but never went. She called up. Walked out of her in pictures. She gets on my nerves.
2. Fixed guitar pickup. Went to Martins. Took Barbara home to Queens Drive.
3. Went to Cavern. Not much good. Bluegenes were on as usual.
5. Good time with Barbara at Mardi Gras. K. Jordon's Rousers (?) were on.
7. Hope Hall cinema, £3. Played okay, went down well, got mobbed by girls outside.
8. Ellesmere Port. Not bad, went in van. Rhythm 4 and Crescents were there. Jim Gretty turned up with agent.
9. St Agnes Ward, Labour Club. £4.10. Played very well. On to all night party in Princess Avenue. Not bad, but Charlie was sick. Home about 4 in Brian's van.
10. Reg and I went to see Marty Wilde and Wee Willie Harris.
15. Charity. Dyson Memorial Hall, Nr. Grapes, Kensington (George Harrison). Played very good, took girls home.
16. Tried to get part exchange on my guitar.
17. Played at Ullett Road in evening. Lousy joint.
19. Pauline wrote to Alan apologising for being keen on me. She asked us to settle it between us. Who cares? I never bothered writing back.
21. Played at 'Spot The Stars.' Paullin (?) did 'Whole Lotta Shakin''. Played good but got nowhere as no fans.
23. (Sat) Off work. Broke stones to concrete the path. Roy and Ritchie came down in afternoon to practice for Cavern. Played at Cavern very well.
24. Went to see All Star Showbiz 11, useless. Played at Cavern, again not bad.
25. Bags of work piled up. Advert published in Echo. 
28. Alan asked for his cards.
29. Alan got cards from Bunges. Went to see 'Hound Of The Baskervilles' at Rialto.
30. Played at Blair Hall, lousy place. Sold mouth organs.
31. Ray Ennis rang to ask us to play on Cavern. Played okay. Ray Stewart played bass.

June
1. Second ad in Echo. Boy from St. Edwards wanted cutaway. Went to see 'Screaming Skull.'
3. Went to Norma's party. Bob was well away. I left at 12, no girls.
5. Got a lift on a motorbike to see 'Carry On Nurse.' Good laugh.
6. Al and I went to Martins, about four ex-girls were there. Picked some girls up at Cavern all-nighter.
7. Cavern finished at 6 o' clock. went to bed. Got up at 2.30. Went to Cavern, not much good, no talent.
10. Got record off Midge for 1/-. Lonnie Donegan EP. bit scratched.
12. Played at Cavern, played lousy. Took girl to Pier Head. She'd been engaged, so I ditched her.
15. Jim Gretty Show, Kensington (entry crossed out). Went to Carlton to see 'Room At The Top.'
16. Went to Mardi Gras. Mossed last bus. In at 1.
17. Went to Sheila's. She gave me grey streak for my hair.
18. Echo Cavern ad said we were playing. We didn't even know so we couldn't make it.
19. Went to Curzon with Barbara to see 'Big Country.' Took her home. Missed last bus and got home 1.30. Like her a lot.
21. Didn't go to Ainsdale as I was broke. Al went. Paul came and we went to see Marty Wilde Show. Good.
22. Al, Brian and I went to see 'Adam And Eve'. No good.
23. Went to Mardi Gras with Barbara, went to Pier Head afterwards. Like her a lot.
25. Tried to get a Daily Herald.
27. Had row with Pat over fan. Got £25 car. Guitar sold, I think. Went to all-night session at Cavern with Paul. We took girls to Pier Head about 2 in the morning. Good night.
29. Got Antoria guitar. Man in Prescot Street sold mine for £12.
30. Took mac to be cleaned at Johnsons. Bought white shirt.
