July
1. University 'Crazy Nite'. Played lousy. Charlie and Wally played. Took Barbara.
3. Bought cavalry twill trousers. Got mac from cleaners.
4. Got coach to Butlin's okay. Pete and Danny were on. Picked some girls up in ballroom and went to rock gardens and then their chalet.
5. Watched Rory Blackwell and the Blackjacks.
6. Horse-riding. Ditched two girls from Wigan and went to see an ex-girl from Liverpool.
7. Two of Blackjacks sacked. Rory Blackwell came to ours but I was out.
8. Rory asked me to sign up with him. Passed audition. Should walk the final. Played at Rock 'n' Calypso in afternoon.
9. Played 'People' talent. Got beat by Wigan lads. We should have walked it.
10. Rory paid me £5 in afternoon. Bought presents. Went to barbeque with girl from Wigan, very nice.
11. Got back to Pier Head at 7.30. saw Pete and Danny and went to Martins, no good.
12. Went to Barbara's. Took her presents. Had a row with her, made her cry, good.
13. Supposed to see Barbara at 7.15. Got there 7.15, waited five minutes and then went in without her.
14. Went to Mardi Gras. Saw Barbara, walked her to bus stop, but missed last bus through arguing. Motorist asked me for directions. Saw it was a pal and he ran us home.
18. Got good guitar case from Samuels for 7/6d. Al and I went to Martins, good night. Took girl from Edge Lane home.
19. Went to Ainsdale, nice day, and then Al and I went straight to Cavern.
20. Went to Curzon to see girl, who never turned up, went to pictures myself.
21. Played at Latin Quarter, very nice place.
26. Went to Manchester, horrible place.
27. Saw Lonnie Donegan in 'Light Fingers.'
28. Went to Mardi Gras with Al. Saw Barbara but didn't bother to speak to her.
30. Went to Martins with Alan. Pat's friend Ann is crazy on me but I didn't bother with her.

August
1. Bought blue shirt. Cavern Jazz club. Charlie and Wally played. Went with Pat and Lil to Pier Head at 3 in morning and got some tea. Went back. Al and group went home at 12. Had great time.
2. Lousy day. Slept in till 5. I went to Locarno to see about a date. I went with girl but ditched her as I was tired.
3. Went to New Brighton. Met girl. Got back about 9 and was two hours late for Eric's wedding, so we never played much. Took Barbara home.
4. Date with girl I met in New Brighton. Went to see 'Rio Bravo.' Good, paid 9/- for seats. Took her home, had a row with her, so she walked off.
5. Got electric shock off guitar.
6. Locarno. Played lousy. Drummer never backed us up.
8. Cavern Jazz club. Never played. Went to Martins at night. Nearly had a fight with some lads on the way home.
9. Went to Ainsdale with Pat and Lil. Went with Lil and had a good laugh on train. Went home and had some tea and then went to Cavern, good.
10. Went to see Mrs. Woods about electric bass but she wanted £9 (can't read next word) so I dropped the idea.
12. St. Luke's Hall, Crosby. Played very good.
13. Went to Mrs. Woods about bass. We gave her £5. She signs it over to us tomorrow.
14. Cavern. I waited at Hessy's, she was late, signed bass over to us, played good.
16. Felt lousy, went to Ainsdale and had good laugh. I picked up two girls and went to Sandhills with them. Went to Cavern. Joan was annoyed, took her home.
18. Went to Mardi Gras. Saw Barbara and made a few nasty remarks to her. Saw Brian about the van for Rhyl.
19. Went to Carlton with Joan. Like her a lot.
20. Went to see 'Idle On Parade.' Not bad.
22. Got suit from Neville Reed's. Cavern. Bass guitar was broke. We didn't play too good. Ricki complained to Mr. Sytner about us playing R&R. Took Joan to bus stop.
23. Marion Ryan Show, Rhyl. Brian came at 11, picked girls up in Swan, went for Ritchie, I took Joan. Get to Rhyl at 2 o'clock, found bass guitar wires broke. Wal and I get these soldered but broke on Ist house show. Al and I and Iris and Brian went for tea. We played very well at second house show. Marion Ryan was good. Signed (quite a few?) autographs. We also had to wear make-up. Get back to Liverpool at 12 o'clock. Had row with Joan.
26. St. Luke's Hall. Felt lousy. Sick in work, came home at 1 o clock, gut up at 5. Wally also ill so we had to play without him. Girls came but there was row because we were with the girls we were with at Ainsdale.
27. Al came with a Rhyl paper. We got a good billing.
28. Went to Abbey with Joan to see 'Look Back In Anger.' Good picture.
29. Off work. Paul came in tow with Gaynor, went to Latin Quarter. Took Gay back to Warrington, called for my guitar on the way back.
30. Went to New Brighton for suit. Alan Thompson asked me to play at Lowlands Jazz Club. After playing rushed to Cavern to see if I could find Joan as I was supposed to see her there. No luck.
31. Rang Joan up, very cool, so I told her to go to hell. I rang off.
