January
1. Cambridge Hall, Southport. Went by train, played okay, hell of a fight there. Went to Mrs Best's. Got home about 4 o' clock. Went with Ruth.

2. Ormskirk. Took hours on bus. Played okay. Row over our stands as last bus leaves at 10.45. Mr. Martin took Ritchie to station in car.

3. Went to Hollyoake, then to Cavern and back to Hollyoake. I got photos. Couldn't play National Anthem.

4. Carlton to see 'Yesterdays Enemy,' quite good. Carol and Lesley came but I was out, thank God.

5. Casbah, got last bus back. I sat in the stocks at W. Derby. Nearly got caught by police.

6. Jive Hive, played okay. Foggy, we got there late, Martin was going mad. Went with Sonia backstage.

7. Chez Jazrock. Never played, dance cancelled. Wrote to Butlin's. Wally and I went to pictures.

8. Played okay at Southport, no fights. Seeing girl tomorrow. Went with Paulette on train.

9. Babs came to Jive Hive, took her to Cavern, nice girl, Carol and Lesley there, back to Jive Hive in taxi, Linda started row with Babs over me, made a date with blonde. Wrote to Middleton Towers, Douglas Holiday camp.

10. Casbah, no trouble, played okay.

11. Went to Scala with Eileen. Nicest girl I've been with in a long time. She lives in Formby.

12. Got photos back from Jack Good. Went to Cavern - modern jazz - terrible. Went to Pack of Cards till 12 and then to Latin Quarter to see Cass & his Cassanovas (not bad, only a trio). Did a few numbers and walked home. Arrived 4 o'clock.

15. Southport. Bought bath cubes for Eileen (her birthday was on Wednesday). Met her at Cambridge Hall, Babs was there. Eileen and her had a row because I'd arranged to see Babs.

16. Jive Hive. Babs and Eileen were there, had another row. Bought grey suede boots from Dolcis.

17. Went to Cavern early, met Eileen at station, see Cliff Richard (Palladium). Played good at Cavern. Played at Corinthian till 1 o'clock.

18. Date at Freshfield with Eileen. Got there at 8 o' clock and stayed in waiting room till 11.30 talking to her and her friend. Nearly missed the last train back, but porter ran up to tell me.

19. Practiced at Alan's with Don from Manchester.

20. University. Cancelled because tickets didn't sell. I went to Carlton by myself to see 'Jack The Ripper.' Snowing.

21. Went to Cavern to get paid. Modern jazz, terrible. Got a pile of Festival programmes. Pack of Cards afterwards.

22. Write up in H&P Reporter. Adrian, Don, Al and I went back to Manchester for audition, didn't play too bad and pinched a guitar case. Eileen and Babs were at Southport, we got mobbed by nine girls in dressing room.

23. Got to Southport late, rest on stage. Eileen was there, had a row with a girl named Doris, made up again with Eileen. Get 25 Reporters from Exchange Station.

24. Casbah. played good, over 200 people in. Recording taken at Cavern, not too bad.

25. Going steady with Eileen.

26. Al and I went to Mardle Gardens about 9.30. Walked Ann Clasham to bus stop. She's a gorgeous looking girl but like an iceberg. Went to Pack of Cards with Bluegenes.

27. Jive Hive, played ok. Sold ten Reporters and gave out about 50 fan club forms. Was with Eileen but went home without her as I was fed up. Don't know if I'll see her again.

28. Bill and I went to Locarno, terrible place. Saw my ex-love Pat, talked to her for a bit, she hasn't changed much but it would be impossible to ever feel the same way about her.

29. Southport, played lousy. Eileen came, was with Doris for a bit but I don't like her, seeing Eileen tomorrow. Carol and Lesley came to see me.

30. Bought chocolate for Eileen. Played good at Holyoake, got to Jive Hive 30 mins late, lost £2. Missed last 61 but a friend of mine gave us a lift to Old Swan.

31. Went to Cavern by myself and talked to some girl fans. Made a date with nice girl Mary, but I don't think I'll go. I don't want to two-time Eileen.
