I. Good crowd in at George's, acoustics terrible.

2. Jive Hive, played ok. Babs was there with two fellows.

3. Casbah. Played ok. D.L. played as Ritchie's girl was ill.

4. Rang up Eileen but she put the receiver down on me.

6. Jive Hive, played in palm-tree shirts and sunglasses. Played some skiffle on washboard, it caused a sensation. Eileen was there, but I'm getting over her now.

7. Went to 'Espresso Bongo' by myself, not bad.

8. Southport, played ok, empty. Made up with Eileen.

9. Played Jive Hive. 8.15.- 8.45, then went in Bluegenes van to Cavern, played ok but we didn't go down well, all squares, and back to Crosby in van. Played 10.45 - 11.15.

10. Went to Southport. Got taxi for train. as it arrived late, the taxi ran us to Freshfield and then home, free of charge.

11. Went to Orrell Park to see Johnny Tempest and Tornadoes. Not bad, some of the girls recognized me.

12. Went to Temple to see Cassanovas.

16. Bought silver bracelet for Eileen with my last £3 and had it engraved. Jive Hive, played good. Gave her bracelet, missed last bus and had to walk home with all the gear.

18. Ormskirk, what a dump. Frank's mother said he couldn't come to Butlin's.

21. Wally not going in Army. Charlie and Ritchie want to go to Butlin's. Practiced in Alan's. J. Gustafson borrowed amp.

22. Southport, arguing backstage with Eileen.

23. Got amp fixed. To Jive Hive in car, then the Cavern and back to Crosby. Played Cavern at 4.45. Went with Iris' friend for a lift.

24. Sell car for £25 to young chef. See Everly Bros, Lance Fortune, good show.

27. Jive Hive, played good. Punched Mr. Shodanes.

28. Wally, Al and I bought shirts for group. Bought mike stand and black trousers.

29. Cavern, played okay. Ted taped the show.

30. Bought black jacket off Ritchie. Finished with Eileen. Played ok at University. Paid £10.

May
1. Casbah. Eileen came down. Played ok.

3. Liverpool Stadium. Watched Julian X rehearsing. We did three nos. 'What'd I Say', 'Honey Don't', 'Bro'te Hy' (?). Played okay. Al and I went to Jacaranda. Talked to Larry Parnes. Left about 3.15. Got taxi home.

4. Jive Hive, played ok. Had a row with Eileen, don't think she loves me.

6. Mentioned in Melody Maker. Southport, played ok, but very empty.

7. Jive Hive, played okay. Alan told us that Billy Fury was coming on Tuesday to see groups.

8. Went to see Cliff at Empire, both houses.

10. Billy Fury came to see groups. Al and I went to watch. Good groups but no presentation. Went to see Emile Ford, good.

11. Jive Hive.

12. Finished with Eileen.

13. Played about three hours at Grosvenor Ballroom.

14. Wal and I met Ritchie in town. All going to get shoes. Ritchie says he's not going to Butlin's now, getting married next June. Had to take gear to Crosby by myself as Alan was running.

15. Lowlands. Took Eileen.

16. Supposed to meet Eileen but she says she has tonsillitis. Think she's a liar. Went to pictures by myself.

17. Eileen going in Prom Hospital in Southport. Jive Hive. Allan Williams rang up to say that Larry Parnes wants us for a week.

19. Went to Jacaranda, but Parnes says we weren't on his list, just as well.

20. Got to Southport late, went with blonde girl.

21. Wally, Al, Pat and I drove to Pwllheli. There are digs for £1.11.0 a week, stopped at stream on way back, Al and I fell in. Good laugh. Jive Hive, played okay.

22. Went to visit Eileen, took her some chocs and papers, her sister was there. Babs and I went to see Conway Twitty, good. Wrote to Eileen.

23. Al and I went to town to order some more pairs of black trousers, got back to see Eileen.

25. Jive Hive, Cavern. Dressed in black with white tie.

27. Went to see Eileen. Last night at the Cambridge.

28. Got grey suits (8 gns), took trousers back to be altered. Jive Hive. Got M.U. forms filled in and the money from group.

29. Went to Southport to see Eileen, her two sisters were there. Babs and I went to fair, won two dolls, then went to Babs for tea and then messed around on golf course. Got 9.30 train and went to Cavern.

30. Went to hospital to see Eileen, walked around fair, empty.

31. Eileen out of hospital, can't walk yet.
