One of the most popular pop music programmes on television is surely AR TV’s ‘Ready, Steady, Go!’ which is screened each Friday evening.
Interviews, dance sequences and film are combined to produce one of the most atmospheric and exciting Teenbeat shows since ‘Wham!’ and ‘Oh, Boy!’
We went along to the studios recently to watch two Mersey groups – the Swinging Bluejeans and the Mojos – and were reminded that the majority of Liverpool recording groups have appeared on the programme.
Unfortunately, groups have to mime to their discs and sometimes the results are unintentionally funny. In fact, the Swinging Bluejeans tell us that they dislike having to mime on television and would much prefer to have the opportunity of performing ‘live.’
Other Mersey Beatsters who have appeared on ‘R.S.G.’ include Denny Seyton & the Sabres. The Searchers, the Beatles, Billy J. Kramer. Cilla Black and the Fourmost.
