So, I'm saying that religion (man's
beliefs about God), is a cancer lying at the root of all our ills,
including terrorism.
Until it is excised, we will continue to slaughter each other, in God's
name.
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not denying
God's existence. Nor am I saying anything about Jesus, Mohammed, Moses,
the prophets, Lao Tzu, Rajneesh or anyone else. I never actually met any
of these reputed "men of God." I can neither confirm nor deny
their existence, nor their messages. However, I can say that whatever
God is, I AM that. And so is everyone and everything.
Perhaps some political leaders of
different faiths really believe God is on their side. But I think it's
all a hoax, created and manipulated by power mongers to keep the masses
in line. And it's worked for centuries. All manner of evil goes
unnoticed as we debate who God loves more.
And, to be fair, the perpetrators of this evil would not be successful
if there wasn't a market for it.
Terrorism is just another convenient
power word that evokes an automatic response in listeners, while the
real culprit continues to wreak havoc. The true call must be for us to
lay down the sword of opposition. While the power-hungry elite take our
taxes, convince us to sacrifice our young people to fight in an
unwinable war on terrorism, drugs, or whatever is the "war du
jour," the real war rages on, unabated.
We are all ONE PEOPLE. Remove the
conflicting religious belief systems - step beyond belief in the Middle
East and anywhere, and we discover that lying beneath all the religious
propaganda is Life. Life and the hope of peace.
Before we totally annihilate
ourselves and our world, let's stop trying to define God. We can
speculate regarding God's form and nature, but it doesn't change
anything. In the Bible Jesus is quoted as saying "I am that I am." I wasn't
there, so I don't know. But assuming those were the exact words, they
apply to us as well. We are all ONE PEOPLE.
