Beware the Rampant Animal, Disguised
as Religion
The beast, dressed as a lamb, insidiously
nuzzles its way to the jugular of humanity. Baaa, baaa... as its victims
bleed. One by one they become little beasts, fostering the much needed,
self-perpetuating lie. The lie?
God says, "You are guilty. You must
repent or perish!"
One by one, we fall for this lie. For
generations we've all been taught we are "lost," and our ONLY
way out of this state is religion, that rampant animal telling us what
God expects us to do. Of
course, it's not that clear cut. While many
voices clamor for the first chair in the choir, none are singing the
same notes, even though God is supposedly their director. Yet we are
expected to believe in and trust such a schizophrenic being?
No wonder we're so neurotic.
Belief in a God who is at once loving, caring,
giving, yet also judgmental, angry, and punitive is enough to break even
the strongest among us. We would never tolerate such a parent, much less a God.
And this God is so capricious that He
(ostensibly) sent his only begotten son to SAVE us from our sins (whatever that
means), but would also "zap" us if we crossed the line one time too
many (wherever that line happens to be). How can we worship such a
being?
Are you beginning to see why the human condition
is so deplorable? Centuries of mixed messages regarding
right and wrong, good and evil. With such confusion, is it any wonder we
kill each other? Truly, the
disparity between the "two faces of God" has created such a
horrific chasm that we are all falling into it.
Indeed, anything remotely resembling
"inherent good" is all but lost to us. False faces, dishonest
and corrupt priests,
politicians, educators, businesspeople, parents, spouses are all caught up in the uncontrollable spinning of
an out of control society. Only with a total and complete end to man's erroneous
belief in a schizophrenic God can we find hope.
Our belief about God is the foundation of
all man's ills. And the real kicker is that this God doesn't really
exist! Some authority created Him; a capricious God to keep the bleating
sheep in line. Then they added a "God says" book, nobody will
argue with. They topped it off with the concept of reward/punishment,
heaven and hell. What a way to keep people in line.
And the myth continues.
